1946 Solar Midget

After the end of WWII, the Solar Aircraft Company built midget frames and bodies in an effort to diversify. Solar Aircraft was the parent company of Ryan Aircraft, and the Solar Midgets were built in the same building as the Spirit of St. Louis for Charles Lindberg. Solar Midgets are unique in the fact that the frame is made of stainless steel.
This particular Solar is powered by a Ford V8-60. Period speed equipment includes an Offenhauser high compression heads and an Edelbrock intake with dual Stromberg 81 carbs.
